<span style="color: #222222;">The Centre today has informed the Supreme Court that it is withdrawing its notification proposing to create a social media hub. </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">  </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">A bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra considered the submission of Attorney General K K Venugopal, that the impugned notification is being withdrawn.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Attorney General told the bench, comprising justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud, that the social media policy would be reviewed completely by the Government.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> The bench was hearing a petition filed by Trinamool Congress  MLA Mahua Moitra alleging that the Centre's social media hub policy was to be used as a tool to monitor social media activities of the citizens and has sought quashing of the same.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">On 13th July hearing, the Supreme Court today took a strong note of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry's decision to set up a social media hub for monitoring online data.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Earlier this year, Broadcast Engineering Consultants India Limited,a Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting had floated a tender to supply a software for the project.</span><br />''
