Centre will review its strategy against Left Wing Extremism: Rajnath Singh

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has said, the Centre will take a high-level meeting on eighth of next month to review its strategy against Left Wing Extremism. Talking to reporters in Raipur this morning, he said the strategy will be revised if needed, in the wake of repeated incidents of Maoists violence. <br/><br/>Calling yesterday's attack on CRPF in Sukma in which 25 Jawans lost their lives, he said it was a cold- blooded murder by maoists. He referred to maoists as the biggest enemies of tribals and poor, and said, naxals don't want development of these people.<br/><br/>Earlier, Union Home minister paid homage to 25 CRPF personnel who were martyred in an ambush by Naxals in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. Mr Singh arrived in Raipur at around 10.30 AM and directly headed to the headquarters of the 4th battalion of Chhattisgarh Armed Force in Mana camp area where the wreath- laying ceremony was held.<br/><br/>Chhattisgarh Governor Balramji Das Tandon, Chief Minister Raman Singh, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Hansraj Ahir and senior state and paramilitary officials were also present on the occasion.<br/><br/>Mr Singh then held a meeting with the chief minister and other senior officials of the state.<br/><br/>At least 25 CRPF personnel were killed and seven wounded in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district yesterday. Nearly 100-strong CRPF patrol providing security for road construction work came under fierce gunfire from Maoists, inflicting heavy casualties on the security personnel. The Naxalites mounted the assault in Kalapathar area of south Bastar region, one of the worst-hit by Left-wing extremism in the country.<br/>
