Centre will do everything possible to ensure aspirations of J&K's youth are met : PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the Centre will do everything possible to ensure that aspirations of Jammu and Kashmir's youth are met and state develops. Mr. Modi assured a delegation of Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference that the Centre will look into their demands and stressed that growth and development of the state is high on his agenda.<br/><br/>Mr. Modi said, vikas and vishwas will remain the corner stones of the Centre's development initiatives for the state. The Prime Minister said, the development of villages is vital to the overall economic development of the state.<br/><br/>The Prime Minister's assurance came during a meeting of a delegation of Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference in New Delhi yesterday.<br/><br/>Chairman of the Conference Shafiq Mir led the delegation which briefed the Prime Minister on developmental issues concerning the state saying benefits of central assistance have not reached villages due to non-empowerment of the Panchayats. They urged the Prime Minister to consider extension of the 73rd and 74th amendments of the Constitution to empower the Panchayats to undertake basis development activities in rural areas.<br/><br/>The delegation demanded that elections to panchayts and urban local bodies in the state be held at the earliest. The members also condemned the burning of schools by anti-national elements.
