Centre urges states to implement Workers Law effectively

Centre has asked the states to take effective steps towards the implementation of Building and other Construction Workers Law. Speaking at the Consultative Committee meeting Union Minister of Labour and Employment Mr. Mallikarjun Kharge said that states have collected 2270 crore rupees as cess and spent 638 crore rupees on the welfare schemes for building and other construction workers.<br/><br/>He also said that 33 states and union territories have notified the rules under this act and expressed hope that remaining states will not lag behind in implementing this act. Participating in the discussion members of consultative committee emphasized on the need of keeping a vigil on implementation of this act. <br/><br/>Building and other Construction workers act 1996, aims at providing safety and health measures for the construction workers.
