Centre urges J&K Govt to firmly deal with stone pelters

Centre has urged the Jammu and Kashmir government to deal with stone pelters firmly. It has however asked the security forces to exercise maximum restraint while dealing with law and order situation. Official sources confirmed that most of the stone pelters are being paid by the anti national elements for fometing trouble. Sources said many of the stone pelters arrested are not even aware of the cause of the stone pelting. Earlier, the Home minister Mr P Chidambaram told reporters that LeT militants are behind the trouble in the Sopore area of the Kashmir valley. He said two militants killed in an encounter recently also belonged to the militant outfit operating from Pakistani soil. Our correspondent adds most of the stone pelters are in their teens. Security agencies say that they are also being used as shields by the anti national forces in the Border States.<br/>
