Centre transforming nation into digitally empowered society: Ravi Shankar

Minister for Electronics and IT Ravi Shankar Prasad has said that the present government in the Centre is transforming the nation through technology to make it a digitally empowered knowledge society. Addressing Digital India Award ceremony in New Delhi today, Mr Prasad said, India missed the import of Industrial revolution, entrepreneurial revolution and technology revolution but it can't miss the ongoing digital revolution. <br/><br/>He said, India wants to be the leader of digital revolution. He said, digital delivery is faster and digital governance is transparent. Mr Prasad said, India is sitting in the cusp of big change with the digital revolution. Mr Prasad urged the awardees to identify the success stories of digital India and share it among people. <br/><br/>He also urged them to be active agents of change towards digital payment methods. He said, National Informatics Centre can be the torch bearer of Digital India program. The Minister announced that Digital Village programme will be launched soon to provide virtual world facilities in rural areas.<br/><br/>In his speech, Minister of State for Electronics and IT P P Chaudhary stressed the need to be proactive in the area of cyber security. <br/><br/>In her address, Secretary Electronic and IT Aruna Sundarrajan said, digital India is paving the way for a more inclusive, participative and empowered society. She said, 1 billion cell phones, 1 billion bio-metrics and half a billion population connected to internet tell the story of India's digital transformation.<br/><br/>
