Centre to unveil guidelines tomorrow to tackle Zika virus

The Centre will come out with guidelines by evening tomorrow containing strategies to deal with Zika virus.The virus, spread by Aedes mosquitoes, has been linked to brain defects in babies. The guidelines is being prepared in view of the reported cases of this Virus from Latin American countries. <br/><br/>Health Minister J P Nadda today chaired a high level meeting with senior officials of his Ministry and concerned departments in New Delhi in this regard. Talking exclusively to AIR, Mr Nadda said, during the meeting, a detailed discussion was held on the various aspects of the report submitted by the Technical Expert Group which was set up to suggest measures to tackle the Zika virus. Mr Nadda said, so far no case of Zika virus has been reported in the country. He said, the government has also strengthened its surveillance system in this regard.
