Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin has appealed to the Centre to take urgent necessary steps to immediately secure the release of 45 fishermen and 138 fishing boats in Srilanka. In a letter to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, he has pointed out that the Srilankan Navy continued to infringe upon the traditional rights of the Indian fishermen. He told that the attitude of the Srilankan Navy had jeopardize the livelihoods of the fishermen and have instilled fear and panic in the fishing hamlets.<br />
