Earth Sciences Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan has called for further strengthening of weather and climate forecast services for farmers and fishermen. <br/><br/>Addressing a Press Conference in New Delhi today he said quality of forecasts have improved significantly and the Ministry of Earth Sciences has been asked to strengthen Information dissemination mechanism. <br/><br/>The minister also called for exploring all possible means to maximize outreach of the Agro-Meteorological Advisory Service and increase SMS dissemination to cover entire farming community in coming years.<br/><br/>Dr Harsh Vardhan said the Gramin Krishi Mausam Seva has been successful in providing crop specific advisories to farmers at the district level. <br/><br/>He also said, the Potential Fishing Zone Advisory Service has also been operationalized to benefit the fishermen community.
