The Centre will soon come out with a 10-year action plan to strengthen the power sector. Stating this in New Delhi today, Joint Secretary in the ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Ambuj Sharma said the action plan is expected to be finalised next month after taking views from all the concerned stakeholders, ministries and departments.
He said about 50 per cent of the stakeholders have already sent their responses to the plan. Mr Sharma noted that there will be specific steps for time-bound completion of projects in generation, transmission and distribution of power. He added that his ministry is also finalising the 'Road Map for Power generation, transmission and distribution 2022'.
Speaking on the ocassion, Planning Commission Advisor (Energy) I A Khan said that about 10 locations have been identified for smart grid projects and a pilot project is being implemented in Puducherry.
