Centre to set up National Tiger Conservation Authority office at Guwahati

The Centre is to set up a National Tiger Conservation Authority office at Guwahati in Assam very soon. It will be the fifth office of the Authority in the country. This was announced by the Union Forest and Environment Minister Mr. Jairam Ramesh at a high-level review meeting in Kaziranga National Park last night. Expressing satisfaction over the increase in the population of Tigers in Assam, the Union Minister said a sum of three crore rupees has been allocated for the Kaziranga National Park to further the tiger conservation measures. <br/><br/>He said the fees collected from the visiting foreign and domestic tourists to the Kaziranga national Park will now be utilized for improvement of infrastructure in the park. Mr. Ramesh stressed on development and creating awareness among the villagers living in and around the national park to check poaching of wild animals. The Union Minister is visiting the biggest river island of Majuli today.
