He also said that the Environment Protection Act will ensure a Bhopal-like tragedy does not happen again.

Law Minister M Veerappa Moily, in the meantime has asserted that the case against former Union Carbide chief Warren Anderson, in connection with the Bhopal gas tragedy is not over and he can be brought and tried.

Mr. Moily refused to discuss the implications of the Bhopal Gas disaster case verdict on the current debate over the Civil Nuclear Liability bill. The Law Minister termed the remarks by a former CBI Joint Director BR Lal involved in the Investigations as irresponsible.

The CBI official had alleged that he was forced by the Ministry of External Affairs officials not to follow extradition of Warren Anderson.

BJP spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters in New Delhi that attempts by the then Union Government led by P V Narsimha Rao asking the CBI not to press for extradition of Anderson is very unfortunate and deeply condemnable.

The Communist Party has said that the central government owes an explanation to the nation on Bhopal tragedy judgment.
