The Centre will set up 7, 000 sports complex across the country. Announcing this in Guwahati on Saturday, Union Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Sarbananda Sonowal requested the state governments to allot land for the same.

Mr. Sonowal said that the National Youth Festival will be held in Guwahati from the 8th to 12th of January which will be attended by over 5,000 delegates, including students of 10 foreign countries studying in India.

Sports stars Mary Kom, Sushil Kumar, Virendra Sehwag and Arunima Sinha will also be attending the Festival.

He also said that under a National Sports Talent Search Scheme, competitions will be held at the school, block, district and state levels to identify the best players.
