Government says it would set up 1,500 new Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and 5,000 skill development centres (SKC) in the country. Each ITI would cost 2.5 crore rupees, while government will spend 75 lakh on every skill development centres. <br/><br/>Minister of State for Labour Harish Rawat told reporters in New Delhi that this would be done under the public private partnership mode. He also said the government would provide viability gap funding to private skill trainers to manage the institutes.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports the government is expecting the new 1,500 ITIs to serve about 1,576 blocks where industrial training is not available, particularly in the naxal affected areas.
