Centre to set up 1500 ITIs through PPP mode in next five years

The Centre will establish 1,500 industrial training institutes and 5,000 skill development centres through the public-private partnership mode in the next five years.

Labour Minister Mallikarjun Kharge said, with the setting up of the new centres, the government hopes to achieve the target of skilling 100 million people by 2022. He was speaking to the media after inaugurating the Skilling India theme pavilion at the ongoing India International Trade Fair in New Delhi.

Mr Kharge described skill development as one of the most important tools for empowering people, increasing productivity of enterprises and competitiveness of the country.
