The Centre will respond as soon as possible on the demand for a separate Telangana state. Speaking to reporters after presenting the monthly report of his ministry, Home Minister P Chidambaram
said this in reply to a question on the Leader of the Opposition Sushma Swaraj asking the government to list the steps taken by it on the issue in the House. Mr. Chidambaram also appealed to the MPs from Telangana including his partymen to allow Parliament to function while their demand can be discussed. He said the ruling party had to take the unfortunate step of suspending its MPs from Telangana region for four days.
The Home minister said, discussions can be held outside the house .He said the agitating leaders are welcome to meet leaders who are dealing with the Telangana issue like Ghulam Nabi Azad and Vayalar Ravi.
Home Minister said, the Central Government is very sincere in resolving the issue. The Home minister also said, an All party meeting can be convened as soon as the four political parties arrive at a consensus on the issue.
