The Centre has decided to release 40 lakh tons of non-levy sugar for October and November this year. An official release says, sugar factories have to sell and deliver or dispatch the entire quantity within the validity period of the release order from 1st October to 30th November on condition that a minimum quantity of 45 per cent be sold off and dispatched or delivered in one of these months. The Centre has also released 3.96 lakh tons of levy sugar for the same months for the direct allottee states.
