The Centre has decided to grant a subsidy of 25 crore rupees to the States on Tur and Urad dal to contain the rising prices of these commodities in market. <br/><br/>An official release said, the subsidy is given to the States for distribution of pulses after milling at rates not exceeding 120 rupees per kilogram. The Centre has decided to allocate eight thousand tonnes of Tur and two thousand tonnes of Urad dal to States for distribution. <br/><br/>An unmilled Tur dal is being allocated at 66 rupees per kilogram after providing a subsidy of 27 rupees and Urad at 82 rupees after a subsidy of 14 rupees per kilogram.The Centre has asked the Chief Secretaries and Food and Consumer Affairs Secretaries of the States to project their demand immediately to ensure timely allocation of pulses from the buffer stock.<br/><br/>They have also been asked to keep a close watch on the prices of pulses and to take stringent action against hoarders. The center has already empowered the States to impose stock limits on the pulses to ensure availability. <br/><br/>The release also said, the government agencies have made procurement of about 50 thousand tonnes of pulses from the farmers during the Kharif Marketing Season, 2015-16. <br/><br/>26 thousand tonnes of pulses have also been contracted for import. The Government has a initiated procurement of Rabi pulses and has set a target of procuring around one lakh tonnes of Chana and Masur to further build the buffer stock.
