Government has expressed concern over the spread of Left-wing extremism in some of the more backward areas. Addressing the 71st annual parade of the CRPF in New Delhi today, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee called this a matter of worry and caution. He, however, reiterated that government will not tolerate the killing of innocents. Mr. Mukherjee said, government is committed to make all the necessary facilities available to the para-military forces to achieve their professional targets. The Finance Minister said that centre is also working with states to improve their condition. Lauding the role of CRPF in curbing Naxaslism and terrorism, Mr. Mukherjee said that its role has been pivotal in countering insurgency in the Northeastern region of the country. Earlier, Mr. Mukherjee took salute at the impressive and colourful parade by the CRPF jawans.
