The Centre will invest about 75,000 crore rupees in augmenting highway infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh over the next two years. According to Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the investment will be made through National Highways Authority of India, NHAI and State Public Works Department, PWD. It said, there are 60 national highways with a total length of over eight thousand kilometers in the State, out of which over 4,500 kilometers are with NHAI and over three thousand kilometers are the state PWD.<br/><br/>The work on 31 major highways projects are underway at a cost of over 19 thousand crore rupees. Besides, 24 major projects were also awarded during last two years at a cost of about 17 thousand core rupees. It also said, eight projects have been completed in the state during last two years. It said 15 projects are likely to be awarded in the next 12 months.
