Centre to hold states, UTs' meet on ‘Smart Cities’ projects

Centre has convened a meeting of Urban Development Ministers of the states and Union Territories in New Delhi today to discuss its ambitious ‘Smart Cities’ projects. During the conclave, Union Minister of Urban Development M. Venkaiah Naidu will take their views and suggestions on building 100 Smart Cities in the country.

Principle Secretaries of states dealing with urban development will also attend the meeting. According to an official release, after the interaction with states, the Smart Cities Project proposal will be firmed up and submitted for approval of the competent authorities.

Official sources said that Round-the-clock power and water supply, wi-fi connectivity and telemedicine facilities will be some of the highlights of the project.
