The Centre will soon hold a meeting of Chief Ministers to discuss the implications of the Supreme Court Judgement on disarming Special Police Officers in Chattisgarh to counter Naxals. Briefing the media in New Delhi, the Home Minister P.Chidambaram said, there are some areas of the judgement which are to be reflected upon carefully.The Apex Court had termed as unconstitutional the practice of deploying Special Police Officers in campaigns like Salwa Judum launched by the Chhattisgarh government to fight Maoists. The Court had asked for a compliance report from the Union government and the Chhattisgarh government within a period of six weeks. On the issue of infiltration in Jammu and Kashmir, Mr Chidambaram said, though it has come down in the first six months, but the government is maintaining a close vigil on it.
