<br/>The centre has decided to hold the first round of exploratory talks to work out modalities for formal negotiations with the jailed ULFA leadership.<br/><br/>According to official sources, as a first step forward, the Union Home Minister, Mr P Chidambaram would hold talks with Assam Chief Minister, Mr Tarun Gogoi in New Delhi next month.<br/><br/>The meeting will be attended among others by the Union Home Secretary, Mr GK Pillai, Centre’s peace interlocutor, Mr P C Haldar and other officials from central and state intelligence agencies.<br/><br/>AIR Silchar correspondent reports that the move of the centre assumes significance in view of the fact that the entire top leadership of ULFA, barring its Commander in- Chief, Paresh Baruah, are currently in jails.
