Environment and Forest Minister Prakash Javdekar today said that the Centre will give over 35 thousand crore rupees to states for afforestation. Replying to supplementaries in the Lok Sabha during the Question Hour, he alleged that the money meant for afforestation was kept languishing in the banks in the previous UPA regime and was not utilized. He said that several projects including POSCO were stalled during the UPA government. Now, the NDA government is ensuring development and environment conservation simultaneously.
