The Government said it would leave no stone unturned to ensure safety in nuclear power plants in the country.

Speaking on nuclear safety, Minister of State for Science and Technology Ashwani Kumar said in New Delhi that, the possibility of any accident in the plants is remote as government has mooted a comprehensive review of the safety standards of all nuclear power installations.

Kumar said, in the unlikely situation of an accident, well thought out emergency preparedness plans are in place.

However, he admitted that the Fukushima accident has shaken people's confidence in the safety of nuclear power plants when exposed to an external event of very high magnitude.
