Centre to formulate litigation policy to ensure speedy trials

The Centre has decided to formulate a litigation policy to reduce arrears and to ensure speedy trials. Disclosing this in Kolkata on Sunday, the Union Law and Justice Minister, Mr. Veerappa Moily also stressed the need of implementation of E-courts project. The Union Law Minister asked the Eastern states to effectively utilise the 13th Finance Commission grants to develop infrastructure required for speedy and affordable justice delivery system. He said that several initiatives have been taken to strengthen the infrastructure in district courts and setting up of gram nyayalayas to take justice to the doorstep of common man. <br/> Earlier, Mr. Moily had a meeting with the Chief Justices of Calcutta, Patna, Orissa and Jharkhand High Courts and with the representatives of the respective state governments. <br/>
