Centre to file reply to SC today on President's Rule in Arunachal Pradesh

The Centre and Arunachal Pradesh Governor are likely to file their replies in the Supreme Court today on petitions over the imposition of the President's rule in the State. A five-judge bench of apex court had on Wednesday admitted petitions filed by the Congress leaders over the imposition of the President's rule saying it is too serious matter. <br/><br/>The bench had sought replies from the Governor and the Union Ministry of Home Affairs by today. Asking for the reports be provided in a sealed cover, the bench had said , the court cannot proceed unless it gets the grounds for recommending the President's rule. <br/><br/>Meanwhile, former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki yesterday filed a fresh petition in the Supreme Court challenging the promulgation. President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday had given his assent to Union Cabinet's decision to impose the President's Rule in Arunachal Pradesh. The six month mandatory period to have an Assembly session in the state had lapsed on 21st of this month.
