The Centre will extend necessary help to flood hit Assam. Talking to newsmen in Guwahati today, Union Sports Minister Sarbanand Sonowal said that he has submitted a report to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on flood situation. He said that Water Resource Minister Uma Bharati has assured him to send a team within 10 days to take stock of flood and erosion. Mr. Sonowal said, an inter- ministerial team will also visit Assam.<br/><br/>The minister who visited several flood hit areas said that Union Petroleum Minister has instructed five oil companies to chalk out modalities to assist flood affected people. Refuting the allegation of the Assam government that the Centre has not provided flood relief money, the minister said that 1 thousand 425 crore rupees under the State Disaster Relief Fund is still pending with the state. BJP MP Ramen Deka said that the Centre will publish a white paper on fund that has been given to Assam as flood relief.
