Centre to establish 137 nursing and midwifery schools across the country

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, CCEA, has given green signal for the establishment of 137 General Nursing and Midwifery schools. These institutes will be set up at a cost of 1370 crore rupees. While the centre will bear 85 per cent of the financial burden, 15 per cent will be shared by the states. These institutes will be setup in Bihar, Chattisgargh, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Rajasthan, Uttrakhand, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal as well as North Eastern States. Our correspondent reports that this will help in increasing the avaliablity of trained Nursing man power and improve the quality of nursing education in the back ward and special category states in the country.<br/><br/>
