Centre to deploy drone to study crop damages: Radha Mohan Singh

The Centre will deploy drone to study the damages of crop in the country. Talking to AIR correspondent in Guwahati today, Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh said that it will be done so that farmers can get proper and timely compensation for crop damages under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Bima Yojna. He said that help of all new technologies will be taken to compensate crop damages due to natural calamities. Mr. Singh said that smart phones will be given to Lekhpal who are responsible to see the crop damages.<br/><br/>Earlier, laying the foundation stone of Agriculture Technology Application Research Institute, he said that 14 crore Soil Health card will be distributed in the country by March next year. He also urged the Assam government to utilise the money that has been given by the Centre for soil testing activities.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that the new Agriculture Technology Application Research Institute for Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim will cover 71 percent people of North East. The institute will work as the nodal agency of all Krishi Vigyan Kendras for three states. Mr. Singh said that for the optimum utilization of water, the Centre has started Prime Minister Krishi Sinchai Yojna.
