Home Minister says that Centre will deal firmly with any attempt to revive militancy in Punjab. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi on Wednesday, Mr. Sushil Kumar Shinde said that agency reports point out instances of extensive fund raising by extremist groups of Punjab in Europe and North America.

The Home Minister said that the security is being tightened along the Indo-Pak border and strict vigil is being maintained on entry points at Attari railway station.

In reply to a question on the construction of memorial in golden temple, Mr. Shinde said that Centre would not like to interfere in its construction .

Mr. Shinde rejected a Haryana Khap Panchayat's decision that marriageable age for girls should be reduced. He asserted that one should abide by the Indian law.

He promised to take strict measures against unfortunate incidents of rape being reported from Haryana.

In a reply to a question on Hindus from Pakistan, who are taking shelter in the country, the Home Minister said if they do not want go back, both the State and Centre will consider their cases.
