Prices of subsidised wheat at 2 rupees and rice at 3 rupees per kg to 81 crore people in the country, will not be reviewed till 2018. Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Ramvilas Paswan informed the Lok Sabha yesterday that there was a provision for revision of the prices of food grains every three years in the National Food Security Act 2013. However, the government has decided to continue the present scheme till 2018.<br/><br/>Mr. Paswan also said it was the responsibility of the state governments to ensure that no one remains in hunger and the Centre was doing its best to properly implement the scheme.<br/><br/>Replying to a question regarding storage capacity of food grains, the Minister of State for Food and Public Distribution CR Chaudhary said, it has enough storage capacity for food grains in the country. He informed the House that government agencies purchased a total of six hundred metric tones food grains produced by the farmers. Mr. Chaudhary said, the total capacity of government godowns is 795 metric tones.
