The Centre has said that it will complete almost all the remaining infrastructure works at the border in next three years. Home Minister Rajnath Singh reviewed the Border Management at a meeting in New Delhi yesterday in which Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju and senior officials of the Department of Border Management were present. An official release said, during the meeting it was informed that major impediments hampering the development of border infrastructure have been resolved which will increase the pace of development of border infrastructure in coming years. Mr Singh directed the officials to complete the fencing along Indo-Bangladesh border in Assam. The release added, over 223 kilometers fence has been constructed for sealing of Indo-Bangladesh Border and there are 122 locations where physical barrier is not present. It was decided that 100 locations covering 11.9 kilometers area will have fence and 22 locations in riverine areas will have non-physical barriers including technological barriers which will completely seal the border and it will be achieved by June, 2017. The Home Minister also directed for full use of technology to secure sensitive areas along the borders. This will involve networking of equipments including High Resolution Cameras, Radars, Unattended Ground Sensors, Optical Fibres and Infra Red Sensors.
