The Centre will soon come up with a new Science, Technology and Innovation Policy. This was announced by Science and
Technology minister Vayalar Ravi at an award presentation ceremony in New Delhi today. Mr Ravi said creation and adoption of new scientific techniques is important to make up for deficient natural resources and reduce the demands on capital. He said the key to national prosperity lies in the effective combination of technology, raw materials and the capital.

Addressing the award winning students of the 2nd national level Exhibition and Project Competitions under his ministry's INSPIRE scheme, Mr. Ravi asked students to take to scientific research and innovate in the technology domain in large numbers to enable the country to come up with newer and competitive products.
