The Centre will soon bring amendments to the existing Electoral Reforms Act on the basis of the recommendations of the Regional Consultation Meetings. This was disclosed by the Law Minister M. Veerappa Moily while addressing a press conference after the day-long seventh Regional Consultative Meeting in Guwahati on Sunday evening. He said the proposed Amendment Bill will ensure arresting the flow of black money during the elections including provision for stern action against those making false expenditure statements. Dr. Moily said there is an urgent need for de-criminalization of politics by preventing criminals from entering into the corridors of power.
