Congress today said that the Centre is taking effective steps to control the spread of Maoists activities in Assam and Arunanchal Pradesh. Briefing reporters in New Delhi, Party Spokesman Manish Tewari said that it is a cause of concern and it is incumbent on the State and Central Government to control Maoism.
Replying to questions on the Lokpal Bill, Mr Tewari expressed hope that the Standing Committee on the Bill will complete the discussions soon. He added that representatives from all political parties are holding fruitful discussions. Mr Tewari reiterated that the Government's commitment to put in place a strong and effective Lokpal Bill.
