The Centre has taken measures in advance to check the spread of Dengue in the coming monsoon season. Health Minister J P Nadda today held a high level meeting regarding preventing measures to deal with the vector borne disease. <br/><br/>Later speaking to reporters, Mr Nadda said, Centre has already provided all logistical and technical support to the Delhi Government in terms of surveillance and diagnostic kits to strengthen their efforts in addressing Dengue.<br/><br/>Noting that community participation and empowerment are the most crucial areas in Dengue prevention, Mr Nadda urged all the stakeholders to start rigorous awareness campaigns regarding the preventive steps to be taken by the people in their communities.<br/><br/>He said, Health Ministry has been proactive in taking measures to prevent Dengue. He said, the preparatory activities for creating awareness and preventing Dengue has started since the beginning January this year and various meetings with the States through video conferencing have been held by the Health Secretary. He said, series of advisories have been issued to States this year. He said, a working plan has also been issued. <br/><br/>He mentioned that recently on World Health Day, India Fights Dengue mobile application has been launched. 15 thousand cases of Dengue were reported last year and 60 people lost their life in the vector borne disease. This year till now seven cases has been reported.
