Centre suspends operations against UPDS in Assam for another six months

The Centre has extended the Suspension of Operations agreement with United People's Democratic Solidarity, UPDS for a another six months. UPDS is a militant group operating in Assam's Karbi Anglong district. The agreement will remain effective till July 31st.<br/><br/>Home ministry officials said in New Delhi, the decision was taken at a tripartite meeting between Centre, Government of Assam and UPDS held recently. Tripartite talks on the demands of UPDS are continuing. The outfit has agreed to truce since 2007.<br/>
