Centre striving hard to strengthen infrastructural facilities: Suresh Prabhu

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has asserted that the Centre is striving hard to strengthen the infrastructural facilities in different parts of the country with a view to create a powerful New India. <br/><br/>He said, Railways is also engaged in expanding the network, augmentation of facilities, adopting new technology and enhancement of capabilities keeping the welfare of common people at the centre of development process. <br/><br/>Speaking at the flagging off ceremony of the Ajni-Pune Air-Conditioned Weekly Superfast Express in Nagpur today, the Minister said that special efforts would be made to increase connectivity and passenger amenities in Vidarbha region and Maharshtra State. It would, in turn, strengthen the rail network in this area and benefit the adjoining states as well.<br/><br/>Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari welcomed the commissioning and initiation of around twenty projects benefitting the Vidarbha region at this juncture. He stressed the need to redevelop Ajni and Khapri Railway Stations in Nagpur Division as multi-modal hubs. This would facilitate movement of various farm produces and horticulture products to different markets.<br/><br/>Mr. Gadkari also proposed a new D.C. Electric Line connecting Kalmeshwar, Ramtek, Butibori and Saoner to the Multi-modal International Hub Airport in Nagpur along with the dynamics of Nagpur Metro Railway which would go a long way to bring in prosperity to the farming community.<br/><br/>Mr. Prabhu also announced launching of Nagpur-Amritsar and Amravati-Pune Air-Conditioned Weekly Superfast Express trains on this occasion. The works including Amla-Parasia Electrification, Improvement works at Chandrapur and Ballarshah Station, LED Lighting at Ballarshah, Wardha, Sewagram and Nagpur along with Free Wi-Fi facility at Nagpur Station were also dedicated.
