<span style="color: #222222;">Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has said, Centre and states should work together to achieve the target of doubling farmers' income in the next five years.<br />'' <br />'' Addressing the State Agriculture Ministers' conference in New Delhi today, Mr Tomar said, the government has shifted its approach from production centric schemes to income-centric schemes.<br />'' <br />'' He said, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojna, PM-Kisan, Kisan Credit Card and Soil Health Card schemes are some of the examples. He urged the states to play an active role in the effective implementation of these schemes to increase the farmers' income.<br />'' <br />'' The Minister asked states to make efforts to help farmers in reducing input cost, increasing production and promoting exports.<br />'' <br />'' He said, farming can become profitable if small and marginal farmers are given access to technological solutions and research. Mr Tomar also stressed on strengthening the National Agriculture Market, e-NAM; removing middleman and fair price for their produce to increase farm earnings.<br />'' <br />'' The Minister said, farmers can play an important role in water conservation works in the country. He asked farmers to refrain from using excessive water during cultivation to help conserve water.<br />'' <br />'' He said, if farmers are made aware about the judicious use of water for irrigation it can greatly help in increasing farm production and reducing water wastage.<br />'' <br />'' The Minister said, there is a need to promote organic farming across the country.
