The centre has started an ambitious training programme exclusively for youths in Jammu and Kashmir. The programme 'Himayat' meaning support was launched in Srinagar on Saturday. Speaking to media in New Delhi, Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh said over one lakh youth from poor families will be given training and placement over the next five years. He said cabinet has already given approval for spending 235 crore rupees on this programme. He said priority will be given to youth who are school drop outs and college drop outs. Ramesh said about 23,000 rupees per person will be spent on the training. The Minister said there will be a website maintained by the Rural development Ministry which will have all the details of the youth selected, trained and placed. He said training facilities will be provided at each of the block headquarters.
