Centre spent 5 lakh crore rupees in last eight and a half years in north eastern region: G. Kishan Reddy

Union Minister of Tourism, Culture and Development of North Eastern Region, G. Kishan Reddy today said the Centre has spent five lakh crore rupees in last eight and a half years in the north eastern region. Speaking at a programme in Agartala, Mr. Reddy said that the Government is committed to bring in a world-class infrastructure in the north-east. He asserted that nearly 78 crore rupees are being spent on railway projects in the north east.<br />'' <br />''Expressing confidence that north-east will emerge as the growth region of the country, he reiterated that this particular region can be a window of South Asia. Later, while speaking after inaugurating various developmental projects alongside Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha at the state secretariat, said soon, ministers from the Centre will visit vibrant border villages bordering China, Myanmar and Bangladesh.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">He said under this programme, after the ministers visit, senior officers of the Government will do a night halt at these border villages. Besides, he said in coming 500 days villages will have cell phone connectivity and they will be provided with high-speed Internet bandwidth.</span><br />
