The Centre has set a target of providing housing to all the poor in the country by 2022. <br/><br/>Talking exclusively to AIR, after chairing the Parliamentary Consultative Committee meeting on Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (Rural Housing) in New Delhi, Minister of State for Rural Development Ram Kripal Yadav said, the government will construct one crore pucca houses for the poor by 2019. <br/><br/>He said, during this financial year, 44 lakh houses will be constructed which is more than the set target. Mr Yadav said, the such housings will be spread over 25 square meter area in stead of earlier provision of 20 square meter area.<br/><br/>On the issue of fund allocation to Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, Mr Yadav said, the government has provided the highest ever budget this year. He said, over 47 thousand crore rupees have been provided under it during this fiscal.
