Centre seeks report from UP government on alleged Meerut rape incident

The Centre has sought a report from the Uttar Pradesh government on the issue of the alleged abduction and rape of a girl in Meerut district after forcible religious conversion.

In a communication, the Home Ministry has asked the Uttar Pradesh government to give a detailed factual report on the alleged incident at the earliest, official sources said.

Uttar Pradesh Police said a seminary woman teacher, native of Saraba village under Kharkhauda police station alleged that she was abducted by the Kharkhauda village pradhan Nabab Khan and his four aides and taken to a seminary in Haupr District where she was gangraped and renamed as Bushra Jannat after her forcible religion conversion on the 31st of last month.

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in Kharkhauda in Meerut district. An FIR has already been registered with the Kharkhauda police station and further investigation is going on. Three persons including two women have been arrested. The station Head of Kharakauda Police station Dinesh Singh has been removed for dereliction of duty.
