Centre says two crore houses will be built in urban areas by 2022

Centre says about two crore houses will be built in urban areas by the year 2022 to ensure housing for all. Urban development Ministry in a release said, 96 per cent of these houseswill be for Economic Weaker Sections (EWS) and Low income groups (LIG)Out of this. The release said that the houses will be built under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and the Central government has proposed to give assistance in the range of one lakh to two lakh 30 thousand rupees per dwelling unit . <br/><br/>AIR Correspondent reports, the Ministry will organize a National Workshop on 'Model State Urban Housing and Habitat Policy, Decisive Roadmap for Achieving Housing for All' in New Delhi next week. Centre will discuss with the states the policy measures being taken by them to promote affordable housing projects. The Ministry said, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have proposed waiver of stamp duty and other fee for affordable housing projects.
