The Centre has sanctioned an amount of three crore eighty six lakh and thirty thousand rupees to Odisha for conducting sports competitions in the state during the current fiscal. An official release says, the amount has been provided under the Centrally-sponsored scheme – Panchayat Yuva Krida Aur Khel Abhiyan.Under the scheme, financial assistance is provided to states and union territories for development of basic sports infrastructure. It also provides assistance for maintaining playfields and conducting sports competitions at block, district, state and national levels across the country.
