The government has sanctioned 4065.81 crore rupees for pollution abatement schemes for rivers and lakes in various states.

Uttar Pradesh received the largest amount of 1385.95 crore rupees.The amount includes sanctioned cost of projects and expenditure incurred including the state governments' share under the National River Conservation Programme, NRCP and the National Lake Conservation Programme, NLCP.
