Centre has approved release of financial assistance of about 940 crore rupees to Tamil Nadu to assist it in dealing with the situation arising from the floods. In an official statement, the Prime Minister's Office said, a central team is being deputed to the state to assess the damages caused by the floods. The fund was sanctioned in response to the request of the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
