Centre rushes team of experts to Assam to tackle outbreak of JE

Health Ministry is rushing a team of experts to Assam to deal with recent outbreak of Japanese Encephalitis, JE.<br/><br/>So far 66 deaths and 365 JE positive cases have been reported from different districts of the State. <br/><br/>Maximum number of deaths were reported from the upper Assam districts. <br/><br/>Health Minister J P Nadda reviewed the situation at a meeting with senior officials of the Ministry in New Delhi on Saturday.<br/><br/>An official release said that the senior officials of the Ministry are in regular touch with the State authorities and the situation is being closely monitored.<br/><br/>Additional Director of National Vector Borne Diseases Control Programme is camping in the State since 22nd of this month.<br/><br/>The Ministry has already sanctioned funds for the establishment of three paediatrics ICUs in district hospitals of Sivsagar, Golaghat and Lakhimpur. <br/><br/>Extensive fogging is also being carried out. The State Government has asked physicians from Medical Colleges to stay in district hospitals on rotation basis.<br/><br/>Cases detected are generally the persons, who have not been vaccinated.
