Centre rushes 8 additional CRPF companies to Kashmir

Centre has rushed eight additional companies of CRPF to Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of continued violent protests across the Valley. It is in addition to 12 companies which were sent on Saturday to assist the local administration in maintaining law and order in the area. <br/><br/>Meanwhile, Home Minister Rajnath Singh held another round of high level meeting in New Delhi this evening and reviewed the situation. The meeting was attended by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval alongwith other senior officials. Mr. Singh also had a meeting with senior security officers this morning. <br/><br/> Earlier in the day, Home Minister spoke to Congress President Sonia Gandhi and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah over the situation. His discussions with the two leaders are believed to be an attempt by the Centre to take opposition leaders into confidence. Mr. Singh has already spoken to Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and assured her all central assistance to tackle the violent protests.
